Rumours are spreading like wildfire at Kapeeka Industrial Park and in the corridors of power that president Museveni’s powerful young brother Gen Salim Saleh dismissed his longtime Military Assistant Col James Kojo.

The gossip started spreading at the end of 2025 when Col Kojo became distant from Gen Saleh which has not been the case previously.

Previously, Col Kojo was always close to Gen Saleh while executing his personal assignments including arranging his high-level meetings, summoning on his behalf powerful persons in his brother’s government and always talking on phone.

“Nowadays the man who was very busy and powerful is like us just roaming around Kapeeka industrial park. It seems he is no longer giving orders but has turned into a spectator observing how work is being done,” a source said.

The source added that nowadays Maj Herbert Ndiwalana who has been Gen Saleh’s longtime Personal Assistant is the one executing much of the work which was being done by Col Kojo.

Others who are always close to Gen Saleh include Maj Gen Philip Idro who is his Principal Advisor, David Pulkol who is also his Principal Advisor, Maj John Mwesigye who is his legal officer.

Veteran journalist Andrew Mwenda recently claimed that Gen Saleh spends much of his time designing and planning the country’s economy and everything on how it runs is on his figure tips.

Sources in the corridors of power disclosed that even though Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba the Chief of Defence Forces is the one in charge of security, every morning according to Mwenda, Museveni receives a briefing from Gen Saleh before executing any other work despite both Museveni and Gen Saleh, according to Mwenda denying consulting each other every morning of the day.

Kira Municipality legislator Ibrahim Ssemujju Nganda claimed that Gen Saleh is the next powerful person in the country after President Museveni and this is the reason government officials fight for his attention.
