Fred Ebil the Secretary General of Uganda People’s Congress (UPC) has confirmed that the Interparty Organisation for Dialogue (IPOD) Council of Secretary Generals has passed a resolution of admitting National Unity Platform (NUP) and Alliance for National Transformation (ANT) into the political umbrella that brings together all political parties with representatives in parliament.

The resolution was made last week and immediately forwarded to the heads of the member parties for consideration with the final resolution destined to be made during their coming summit a few weeks to come.

Ebil said that the final admission will happen after both Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu (Bobi Wine) and Maj Gen Mugisha Muntu the NUP and ANT principals respectively together with their Secretary Generals sign the admission agreement in the presence of fellow leaders.

Signing the agreement is a way of subjecting political parties and its leadership to abide with the rules and conditions in the agreement including solving political misunderstanding through dialogue.

The said changes resulted from a private member’s bill brought before parliament by former speaker of parliament Annet Anita Among’s blue eyed girl Faith Nakut the Napak district woman Member of Parliament.

This was after Bobi Wine’s political party NUP and Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) refused to attend IPOD meetings on grounds that they cannot share and discuss national issues with President Museveni who they accuse of not respecting rule of law in the country.

FDC under the leadership of Patrick Amuriat Oboi and Nathan Nandala Mafabi as party president and secretary general signed the agreement to be admitted into IPOD. Even though NUP and ANT also applied, Dr Kizza Besigye’s People’s Front for Freedom (PFF) has still declined.

Even though, Norbert Mao the summit chairperson and also Democratic Party (DP) president general is set to summon the summit in the coming weeks, highly placed sources in NUP revealed to Ono Bwino that Bobi Wine has extended his dates on coming back to Uganda.

Sources said that IPOD council of secretary generals rushed to pass the said resolutions thinking that they will use Bobi Wine’s presence to publicize their summit meeting which is expected next week with President Museveni among the expected attendees.

Surprisingly, Bobi Wine communicated to his team at Kavule that he is not coming back next month as he first communicated. He told them that he is still handling some official duties.

Sources said that Bobi Wine has been under pressure from fellow leaders in NUP to comeback and sign the agreement so that the party can start getting some money from the treasury to ease on the financial crisis they are going through.

Bobi Wine sneaked out of the country after the 2026 general elections where he participated as NUP presidential candidate on grounds that his life was in danger after the military raided his Magere home.

His wife, Barbra Itungo Kyagulanyi was assaulted when their home was raided and she later also sneaked out of the country to United States together with her children and other family members.
