Samuel Odonga Otto the former Aruu County Member of Parliament is sharply lobbying for a sports job in President Museveni’s government, this website reports.

Odonga who was defeated in both 2021 and 2026 parliamentary elections by Christopher Komakech a relative to former deputy Inspector General of Police Maj Gen Paul Lokech said that Uganda is losing a lot by abandoning his expertise in sports.

“In Uganda, we are only two certified international recognised sports lawyers. I graduated in sports law from Madrid International sports university, so don’t compare me to your sports minister Peter Ogwang who is a senior six dropped out,” he boasted.

He wondered why left out when the government was setting up a committee to organize the coming African Cup of Nations which is going to be hosted by Uganda, Kenya and Tanzania named Pamoja Africa yet he poses all the qualification from one of the best sports universities in the world .

Odonga a former member of the Democratic Party (DP) and Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) blasted the current sports junior minister Ogwang for being ignorant in managing sports and insisted that in a well governed society, he should be a district councillor not a minister.

Recently, minister Ogwang put his academic documents on his social media platforms to silence his critics including lawyer Male Mabirizi who was threatening to sue him claiming that he forged academic papers to be elected as an MP.

On several occasions, minister Ogwang have been surviving Court suits filed in courts of law challenging his academic documents.

Odonga a self-claimed political philosopher claims that the reason why there are delays in the completion of the facilitates which are set to be used during the AFCON tournament is because of incompetent people who are appointed based on nepotism.

He adds that instead of developing sports, these people are only using their positions to seal cash deals for their personal benefit.

Even though Odonga is boasting of being a successful private practising lawyer, a political consultant and a university law don, sources close to him claim that he is struggling financially and he is lobbying for a meeting with either president Museveni, Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba the Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) or Gen Salim Saleh, President Museveni’s young brother.

“There is no opposition in Uganda, all we are looking for is to get closer to the dining table where the national cake is being shared from so that we also get our share,” Odonga said.

He recently advised National Unity Platform (NUP) former presidential candidate Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu (Bobi Wine) to accept a deal to negotiate with President Museveni to appoint him as his vice president insisting that there opposition will never take over power.
