City landlord and also the owner of Park Enkadde Mall Abdul Kasaayi has been assigned as the coordinator and mobilizer for Kampala minister Hajjat Minsa Kabanda’s campaigns in Kampala’s bagagga kwagalana group.

The decision was taken during the Bagagga Kwagalana group meeting where a number of issues including agreeing on the political candidates to fund and support in the ongoing political campaigns.

The meeting was summoned by the tycoons’ chairperson Godfrey Kirumira to prepare themselves before President Museveni kicks off campaigns in Buganda and Kampala in particular  where they declared that they will take full control of supporting all his campaigns in the region.

In the meeting, it was also agreed to fund Minister Kabanda’s campaigns.

A fundraising cash pool was established and Kasaayi was assigned to mobilize and make sure that the minister has enough money to run her political campaigns.

He will be assisted by controversial city tycoon Hamis Kiggundu.

Sources said that every day before he retires, Kasaayi engages Kabanda’s campaigning team and updates fellow Kwagalana group members on their WhatsApp group.

The tycoon’s initiative has boosted the minister’s campaigns especially at a time when his immediate rival the National Unity Platform (NUP) Kampala Central Candidate David Lewis Rubongoya is facing huge political pressure from Abraham Luzzi project

“Yes she has money but the big amount comes from Kwagalana group and she is running a very expensive campaign compared to his immediate competitor David Lewis Rubongoya who hinges his victory on Bobi Wine’s popularity in the city,” a political analyst in the city said.

He added that on reaching the common voter, Kabanda is followed by independent Suzan Kishaba even though her campaigns are not as expensive as that of the minister but she is also receiving support from Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba’s Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU).

Political analysts in the city said that the coming of another flamboyant independent candidate Abrahm Luzzi is not affecting Kushaba and Kabanda because he is a project brought to be used as a weapon against Rubongoya the National Unity Platform (NUP) candidate.

Rubongoya like other NUP candidates have been designed to use social media to run their campaigns an avenue which Luzzi has also heavily invested in.

This has created panick mood in Rubongoya’s camp

“Rubongoya like other NUP candidates lacks money to run their campaigns, many of them are waiting for their president Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu (Bobi Wine) to visit their areas so that it boosts their campaigns like it was in 2021,” a political analyst added.
