This website can exclusively report that Lubaga South incumbent legislator Aloysius Mukasa has already instructed his lawyers to prepare themselves to contest the victory of the National Unity Platform (NUP) candidate Eugenia Nassolo if she wins next week’s parliamentary election.

Sources close to Mukasa told Ono Bwino that the directive resulted from the decision the legislator made to revenge on Nassolo so that she also feels the pain he went through when she challenged his victory in the 2021 parliamentary elections.

In the 2021, Nassolo through her lawyers led by Samuel Muyizzi challenged Mukasa’s victory in the High Court claiming that he lacks the required academic qualifications and also personally and through her agents participated in election crimes including giving bribes at the polling station.

Before High Court judge Dr. Winfred Nabisinde delivered her judgement, Mukasa and Nassolo reached a decision to settle their matter out of court and according to sources, Mukasa paid over Shs300m to settle the matter and fought strongly to frustrate Samuel Lubega Mukaku who also wanted to resurrect the case as a concerned area voter and a contestant in the said election.

Sources said that after losing the NUP ticket, Mukasa was among those who were warned by their party president Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu (Bobi Wine) not to stand as an independent because it was going to cost their party.

However, Mukasa violated the decision and he decided to stand to force Nassolo to pay him.

Sources said that Nassolo’s academic papers as questionable and Mukasa is going to base on them to challenge her victory.

Mityana district woman Member of Parliament Joyce Bagala Ntwatwa warned that a number of NUP candidates will battle election petitions in court because they lack academic qualifications.

She however placed the entire blame on the party’s Election Management Committee which didn’t do due diligence before giving people party tickets.
