Mathias Mpuuga Nsamba’s Democratic Front (DF) is threatening to break Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu’s back in greater Masaka by fronting Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi’s Buganda Broadcasting Service (BBS) star to oust him out of Mawogola South County.
Highly placed sources in DF assured Ono Bwino that they are fronting Maurice Mukiibi to contest against National Unity Platform’s Gorreti Namugga.
DF supporters are boasting that defeating Namugga will be a big win because she has been at the centre of character assassinating their principal Mpuuga on orders of her party president Bobi Wine.
Sources said that Mukiibi has already informed his bosses at BSS TV to look for his replacement to host his talk show especially Zuukuka n’ensonga which air on Kabaka’s television every morning from Monday to Friday.
Mikiibi’s friends are in high gear mobilizing financial and ground support.
Mukiibi has been shielding Mpuuga on different public platforms blasting Bobi Wine for exhibiting political immaturity especially the way he handled the Shs500m scandal.
Sources in DF are sure that fronting a television star will give Namugga a run for her money.
She is busy in the constituency garnering for support to avoid defeat because Bobi Wine has been counting on her to command her troops to win a number of political election positions in greater Masaka after establishing that Florence Namayanja the Masaka city mayor has been weakened by Mpuuga.
In one of the private meetings, Mpuuga was very bitter with Namugga. He explained to friends that he is the one who picked her, helped her to secure a NUP ticket and mentored her when she entered parliament because she knew nothing in politics
Sources claim that Namugga helped Bobi Wine with evidence that exposed Mpuuga’s secret plans to oust him from NUP top leadership and how he was clandestinely lobbying cultural and religious leaders to support his political move.
Because Mpuuga trusted her alot, she managed to get Mpuuga’s classified information of how he was trying to built a strong political base to fight Bobi Wine within NUP before being expelled and replaced with Muhammad Muwanga Kivumbi as deputy president in charge of Buganda.
However, on the ground, sources are very sure that Mukiibi with Mpuuga’s support will be badly defeated and Namugga will likely win if NRM don’t front a strong candidate in the Parliamentary race.
