Muhammad Muwanga Kivumbi the National Unity Platform (NUP) deputy president in charge of Buganda and also the Butambala county legislator has confirmed that whatever happened during the 2021 general elections cost their victory.

Muwanga insists that he will use his position to make sure that what happened then doesn’t happen again.

Even though he neither admitted nor denied allegations that fellow top party leaders are involved in the recent wave of security kidnappings, arrests and imprisonment of party youthful supporters (foot soldiers), which many allege is an inside job and party bosses are pocketing billions of money.

Maverick political, social and economical commentator Charles Rwomushana insists that it is because of that deal concerning foot soldiers that led to the bitter fallout between former Leader of Opposition in Parliament Mathias Mpuuga Nsamba, NUP principal Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu (Bobi Wine) and Kivumbi.

He rubbished the gullible narrative that their difference originated from the Shs500m service award to Mpuuga.

Rwomushana claims that after the arrest of Bobi Wine and foot soldiers in Kalangala Island in an operation commanded by fallen deputy Inspector General of Police (IGP) late Lt Gen Paul Lokech, Bobi Wine went into the election lonely with only his wife Barbra Itungo Kyagulanyi, Kivumbi was warned by top security bosses to go slow on that matter because his bosses had benefited from it to save President Museveni’s government.

Rwomushana alleged that Museveni was very scared of the violence NUP foot soldiers were threatening to cause in Kampala city if justice Simon Mugenyi the chairperson of the Electoral Commission did not declare Bobi Wine as the 2021 presidential elections winner and the big man was ready to do everything including releasing billions of money to save the situation.

He stated that money was released and it was planned that the mission to tame Bobi Wine’s team be executed in Kalangala Island.

He added that the place was carefully selected to avoid violence and fights which would have happened if the operation was executed in the areas in and around Kampala or Wakiso.

Among those arrested in Kalangala included: Edward Ssebuufu (Eddy Mutwe), Achilleo Kivumbi, Gaddafi Mugumya and Smart Wakabi.

After investigating the entire mission which resulted into the arrest of their people, through his sources close to Museveni, Kivumbi, according to Rwomushana approached Mpuuga and pleaded with him to be open to him concerning whether the allegation made against him over the arrests were true.

“I can tell you this on record, Mpuuga admitted everything Kivumbi asked him and confirmed to him that even Bobi Wine was aware of the operation. He added that the situation was tense and that it was the only decision they had to take to save the country because foot soldiers were ready to burn the country down which would have resulted into bloodshed,” Rwomushana quoted Mpuuga, Kivumbi discussions.

He added that a shocked Kivumbi rushed to Bobi Wine to establish the truth from him and Bobi Wine was also shocked to learn that Kivumbi was in possession of the said secrets but he denied everything and from then, his relationship with Mpuuga started collapsing even though he appointed him as the Leader of Opposition in Parliament.

A highly placed source close to Bobi Wine confirmed the allegation explaining that when Bobi Wine was placed on the wall by party supporters in United States of America on why nothing was done to pressurize Justice Byabakama not to announce Museveni  or allow him to be sworn in as the newly elected president of Uganda, he admitted that they were betrayed by some of their party top leaders who sold their secrets to Museveni which resulted into arresting of the foot soldiers.

But Hillary Sseguya, a strong Bobi Wine supporter in the diaspora questioned Bobi Wine’s narrative wondering why he appointed Mpuuga as the Leader of Opposition in Parliament when he had such strong information of how they were betrayed.

Rwomushana insisted that Bobi Wine was in  the know of whatever was going on and it is the reason why he decided to shift his family to United States of America before the 2021 general election day.

This is not the first time that Mpuuga is being accused of betraying the political struggle against Museveni, former Kawempe South legislator Mubarak Munyagwa claims that Mpuuga sold their walk to work plan to Museveni when he was appointed as the coordinator of the political mobilization drive.

Munyagwa said that the political drive was initiated by Dr Kizza Besigye to be used as a tool to mobilize Ugandans to revolt against Museveni but he was betrayed by Mpuuga.

Munyagwa disclosed that he was scared when Bobi Wine appointed him to lead the opposition in parliament.

However, Kivumbi stated that whatever happened during the 2021 general elections will not happen again and it is the reason why they have started early to clean their house by removing all those people with double loyalty.

“I know I was assigned a tough task to clean the party. I know I am going to annoy my longtime comrades but I have nothing to do because it is time to liberate our country, we shall get back together after the political struggle,” Kivumbi said.
