Omutaka Ssalongo Augustine Kizito Mutumba the speaker of the Buganda Kingdom clan heads council has exclusively confirmed to this investigative website that he is in possession of a letter from his boss the Kabaka of Buganda Ronald Muwenda Mutebi concerning the three acres of land situated at Mengo a  Kampala suburb which President Museveni bought for them in 2023.

Even though he declined to discuss the contents of the letter explaining that it was confidential, and wondering who leaked the issue to this reporter, he disclosed that nothing will stop him and his executive from executing the directives issued by Kabaka through the said letter.

He said that much of the issues Kabaka wanted to know were already agreed upon during the resolutions they passed immediately after meeting President Museveni at State House Entebbe and securing the land title from its former owner.

“You also know very well that by the time we got that land, the Kabaka was not well Healthwise, so we agreed that once his health condition stabilises, we will ask for a meeting with him and narrate everything to him. I think the time has come and we shall do the needful,” Mutumba said.

Highly placed sources in Kabaka’s office intimated to this website that the furious Kabaka through his Premier Charles Peter Mayiga directed Mutumba on behalf of the clan to stop with immediate effect any development going on until he guides on the matter.

The Kabaka directed Mutumba to surrender to him the land title of the land and other documents they signed with the president when he was giving them the said land if any. He also asked for documents concerning the limited company registered which owns the land title with immediate effect.

The Kabaka made the directive as clan heads are nearly finishing the small office building on the said land, they have also put a washing bay on the land and an agricultural learning site where people go and learn modern small scale farming techniques.

Recently, information junior minister in president Museveni’s government Owekitiibwa Joyce Nabbosa Ssebugwawo inspected the said land and promised the clan heads that was in touch with Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba the Chief of Défense Forces (CDF)  to execute the directive of the President for the UPDF engineering brigade to help them in building a storeyed commercial building.

This website has also established that Mutumba is panicking because he is not in possession of the said land title and some clan heads especially those who negotiated the deal are not ready to surrender it to Kabaka fearing that their land is going to be taken and put under the supervision of the Buganda Land Board yet it was their sweat and not part of the Kingdom land which they are supposed to manage.

Both Mayiga and Kabaka Mutebi through his adviser and also former Buganda Kingdom premier Dan Muliika denied prior knowledge of the meeting even though, before the president met the clan heads, he was supposed to first consult them because they are under their leadership. That is why the Bulange leadership insist that the move was aimed at dividing the Kingdom leadership.

Minister Ssebugwawo admitted to having negotiated the meeting between clan heads and the President after the clan heads approached her and pleaded with her that they wanted to meet the Fountain of Honour and talk to him concerning plans to develop themselves and their grandchildren in their different clans.

The clan heads told the president that they were looking for a land to use for development purpose claiming that on several occasions, they have pleaded with the Kabaka to get for them a piece of land out of the many acres of land the Kingdom has but he kept turning a deaf ear.

They also alleged that Buganda land Board is busy grabbing their clan land claiming that is part of the Kingdom land which they have protested severely.
