Details pertaining to a very private meeting between the Senior Presidential Advisor on Special Operations, Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, and his uncle, Gen. RTD. Caleb Akandwanaho alias Salim Saleh, at the latter’s Industrialization hub in Kapeeka, Nakaseke district, have emerged. On top of being the four-star General’s uncle, Saleh is also a senior advisor to the President on matters of security.

A well-placed source in the security circle tells Top Secrets that the meeting was verbal and that “no minutes were documented.”

“The meeting was very private. That explains why the General (read Muhoozi) showed up in a civilian attire,” a deep-throat source says before adding, “A number of issues were discussed including but a few: family, army politics and guidance was given to Gen. Muhoozi because he is a son to Gen Saleh who wishes good to him.”

Neither phones (for recording) nor cameras were allowed, a knowledgeable source confided in us. Muhoozi had ‘carried’ his journalist friend and ‘cousin’ – Andrew Mwenda of the Independent Publications Ltd for the two-day meeting.

While a number of issues came up for discussion, insiders say Gen. Saleh was particularly unhappy with the way his son has been conducting himself lately.

According to our source, Gen. Saleh pointed out an incident in which Muhoozi attacked an NRM veteran and Internal Affairs Minister, Maj. Gen. RTD. Kahinda Otafiire by asking opposition honcho, Col. RTD. Dr. Kizza Besigye to “teach him (Otafiire) some lessons”.

Gen. Saleh is said to have cleared his throat and said: “It was wrong for you to attack the NRM as a party because your father has been the chairperson of that party for years.”

“That succession politics will be settled by the NRM Central Executive Committee (CEC), for me I cannot obstruct you from achieving your political ambitions because it is your right but follow the process and I will support you,” the friendly retired army General is quoted to have told the meeting. At this point, sources note that Gen. Muhoozi and Mwenda listened carefully.

Our source notes further that the Uncle-nephew talk ended with a resolution on better ways of using the latter’s Twitter account.

An impeccable source notes that on the issue of succession, Gen. Saleh said the matter will be sorted by the NRM Central Executive Committee (CEC) and asserted that: “for me I cannot obstruct you from achieving your political ambitions because it is your right but follow the process and I will support you.”

City businessman Balaam Bagaruhare, a hardened proponent of Gen. Muhoozi’s 2026 presidential bid confirmed the meeting but declined to divulge inner details claiming they such issues are not for the consumption of the public.

“Gen. Muhoozi is a son of Gen. Saleh. Actually, Gen. Saleh wishes General good.”

According to Balam, Gen. Saleh has been meeting Gen Muhoozi’s supporters and advising them on a number of business ideas and giving them financial support because he is the chief government listener.
