Ono Bwino can exclusively report that flamboyant embattled former Director of Communication and Corporate Affairs at parliament Chris Obore and other incarcerated parliament bosses are now sleeping in the most lavish ward in prison.
Others parliament bosses sleeping with Obore in the lavish ward are Daniel Adilo, Leonard Okema, Rajab Kaaya Ssemalulu, Emmanuel Emuron Okwi, Vincent Otebata, and Methods Murebe who were jointly charged with multiple criminal charges of embezzlement, causing financial loss and money laundering.
Upon making a lot of complaints after being advised by fellow inmates to engage the Murchison Bay Prison Officer in Charge (OC) Herbert Kaheru to transferred them from C-4 where they were sleeping with maverick city lawyer Male Mabirizi to a high standard ward where they can afford a lavish living.
Their prayer was allowed and they were transferred to the luxurious B-1 ward where financially stable inmates like former National Social Security Fund (NSSF) Managing Director David Chandi Jamwa, Local Government Permanent Secretary John Muhanguzi Kashaka and others slept during their incarceration
B-1 is a self-contained room where detainees sleep well on their own beds, mattresses and blankets without congestions compared to other wards, and they can access any type of food they wish to eat, watch international TV channels including those airing international football leagues.
“For any person to be allowed to sleep in B-1 ward, they have to be financially stable to be able to contribute when time to pay bills comes. There is a restaurant which is responsible for their diet and they are allowed to do physical exercise when other inmates in other rooms are closed inside their wards,” a source said.
He added that David Sserwambala Musoke who is serving a punishment resulting from his fraudulent dealings which cost one of the top telecom companies in the country is the chairperson of Murchison Bay Prison and the immediate supervisor of their ward and he has to make sure that the ward is always clean and the inmates there receive whatever they want especially eats.
However, their necessary needs especially eats and drinks, soap and medicine all have to pass through the criteria that other inmates in the prison go through like making orders at the purchase center who deliver the goods after two to three days because foreign items are not allowed inside the prison.
Even though, Obore and his colleagues are competing with former Kampala Lord Mayor Ssalongo Erias Lukwago on the number of visitors who visit them during visitation days especially from Tuesday to Thursday, he is always seen complaining as to why Court dismissed his bail application when the Anti-Corruption Court magistrate advised him to file it at the High Court.
“Obore still has that mentality of being a special citizen in this country but Mabirizi advised him to humble himself. He assured him that they will only be released on bail if President Museveni gives the green light because he is the one controling the judiciary not his former boss Annet Anita Among the former speaker of parliament,” a source said.
On Friday, a team from Uganda Human Rights Commission (UHRC) visited Obore and colleagues including Lukwago and interacted with him to establish whether their basic human rights are not being violated in prison.
A source said that inmates in the prison were bitter with UHRC team who visited the prison claiming that for them they are taken as not Ugandans and isolated because much of the time where spend on talking to Obore, colleagues and Lukwago.
