Seasoned opposition legislator and also the Mukono Municipality legislator Betty Nambooze Bakireke has warned flamboyant Speaker of Parliament Annet Anita Among and her colleague the Prime Minister Robinah Nabanja Musafire to be cautious on exhibiting impunity and arrogance more than their boss President Museveni.

Seasoned opposition legislator and also the Mukono Municipality legislator Betty Nambooze Bakireke has warned flamboyant Speaker of Parliament Annet Anita Among and her colleague the Prime Minister Robinah Nabanja Musafire to be cautious on exhibiting impunity and arrogance more than their boss President Museveni.

Nambooze explained that even though Museveni wants power and has it, he tries all his level best to be tolerant and he does not always exhibit his power in the open before his opponents especially when it comes to elections.

“ Yes Museveni has his issues including being a dictator but he allows people especially in the presidency to contest against him. He never stopped Dr Kizza Besigye or my president Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu (Bobi Wine) to contest against him even though the elections are not free and fair. But who is Among who feels that she is so special in this country to the extent that she does not want anyone to contest against her in Bukedea district!” Nambooze said

She made the allegations days after aspirants for Bukedea women Member of Parliament were disqualified from the race by Justice Simon Mugenyi Byabakama on ground that they are not residents and voters of Bukedea.

Their fate was further sealed by Justice Simon Peter Kinobe a judge of the High Court Civil Division who dismissed their application staying their prevention.

Hellen Adeke Akol, Suzan Norma Otai and National Unity Platform’s Mercy Alupo accuse Among of having a hand in frustrating their political rights to contest for political leadership because she wants to go through unopposed as it was in 2021 parliamentary elections.

However, Among defended herself boasting that she is ready to face any one and defeat them in any democratic election. She distanced herself from the allegations of impunity placed on her.

Nambooze added that the same impunity was exhibited by Nabbanja when she orderd police to place a police helicopter on the ground where Bobi Wine was expected to hold his presidential campaign in Kakumiro the home district of Nabbanja where she is also the area woman district MP.

Nabbanja first issued a directive ordering all residents of Kakumiro to close themselves inside their houses so that they avoid the temptation of going to Bobi Wine’s rally. NUP supporters claim that a number of their comrades were insulted on Nabanja’s orders.

Nabbanja first threatened a journalist for asking President Museveni hard questions concerning the country’s health system especially in greater Mukono. Nabanja declared that David Mwesigwa, a journalist is a traitor and directed police to summon him to record a statement and make a public apology to President Museveni.

Concerning the police helicopter, Nabbanja admitted that she was the one who parked it on the grounds but she did not know that Bobi Wine was going to hold his political rally their.

She accused the NUP leader of provoking her yet she is not contesting against him.
