For the first time, President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has revealed that when the Russia-Ukraine war broke out, he personally wrote a confidential letter to former United States of America (US) President Joe Biden reasoning and advising him on how to end the war which affected several economies.
In an exclusive interview with Russian television RTV, Museveni said that he is very happy that the newly elected US President Donald J. Trump has started implementing what he advised Biden to end the war.
Museveni accused Ukrainian authorities of allowing to be misled by foreign countries which he termed as imperialists who are making a lot of mistakes that are affecting the world’s peace and also causing a lot of problems for Africa because they are forced to support wrong positions.
He revealed that Uganda decided not to take sides during the discussion and during voting in the United Nations because they wanted to first listen to both sides.
“Now you see, Mr Trump has come out saying no. I wrote a letter to Mr Biden and I ordered it not to be published because it was confidential and the arguments, I see coming out are what I was telling Mr Biden long ago when the war had just started. We told those western countries privately not to take sides in this war but they refused to listen,” Museveni said.
While being interviewed by Athi Mtongana, Museveni disclosed that there is a small group of people who want to control the whole world and they are the ones creating insecurity in the world including in Africa.
He boasted that for him and other freedom fighters, believe in fighting wars of justice not wars of aggressions.
He wondered why Ukraine was stopping people from speaking Russian language in their country even though they were Russians.
Museveni’s statements come at a time when President Trump is trying to mediate both sides to end the war in Ukraine even though western countries are not happy with his strategies claiming that he is favouring Russia.
