Dr Kizza Besigye’s blue-eyed boy who is also the deputy secretary general of the People’s Front for Freedom (PFF) Harold Kaija has cleared the air on allegations that he has been in a love relationship with fallen Kalangala district Woman Member of Parliament Helen Nakimuli.
Appearing on Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi’s CBS radio, Kaija eulogied Nakimuli noting that she has been a promising legislator and in the forthcoming 12th parliament, she was going to perform very well because of the experience she had obtained in the 11th parliament.
He revealed that she got to know Nakimuli when he was contesting for East African Legislative Assembly (EALA) and voluntarily, her and Forum for Democratic Change’s Anna Ebaju Adeke took the role of being his campaign managers and from then, they built a strong personal bond.
Because of the personal bond they had, many people reached the extent of spreading rumours that the two had some chemistry together which he denied.
“My last meeting with Nakimuli was last week, we appeared together on a television talk show and after, as she was driving away, I jokingly asked her when she will give me the opportunity also to enjoy driving her Rubicon car,” Kaija said.
He added that the joyful Nakimuli assured him that when he gets time during one of the weekends, her posh car will be available for him to enjoy. She even promised to fuel it for him to enjoy.
Kaija compared Nakimuli to his political god father Dr Besigye claiming that both of them do not carry titles of their offices or show off that are from rich families which has helped them to openly associate with all categories of people.
Peter Kibazo, a veteran journalist also eulogied Nakimuli revealing that even though he wasn’t very close to her circles, his longtime friend who is also the Butambala county legislator Muhammad Muwanga Kivumbi recommended her to him as one of the intelligent and promising female legislators in opposition politics.
Even though many people are eulogising Nakimuli as a promising legislator, her close friend Gorreth Namugga of Mawogola South said that the deceased was planning to retire from active politics after the 12th parliament.
Namugga revealed that Nakimuli told her that there is a lot of fire in politics like dehumanizing of her supporters and detaining them on fabricated criminal charges that is why she plans to distance herself from such an environment.
“True Nakimuli was supposed to go for that surgery operation in January, but she didn’t because she was campaigning,” Namugga said.
