There is brewing anger among a section of leaders of the People’s Front for Freedom (PFF) who are accusing Winnie Byanyima wife to their supreme leader Dr Kizza Besigye of betraying their political struggle against President Museveni’s government in favour of the National Unity Platform (NUP) party and their principal Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu (Bobi Wine).
Ibrahim Ssemujju Nganda the PFF Secretary General and Chief of Mobilizer who also doubles as the party spokesperson said that one of the reasons why they performed poorly in the ongoing general elections was because they didn’t have enough money and their their candidates who were vying for different positions had to facilitate themselves without any help from the party to help them.
He added that because of scarcity of funds, it is the reason why they didn’t execute plans of moving around the country campaigning for their various candidates.
He explained that another reason why they struggled during the campaigns was the absence of their supreme leader who is in prison on treason charges.

However, a senior PFF member who asked us to conceal his identity told Ono Bwino that as leaders of the party, they were shocked upon seeing Byanyima giving Bobi Wine money in a brown envelope claiming that it was given to her by her husband to deliver it to Bobi Wine to help him in his campaigns.
He added that she not only stopped at giving Bobi Wine money, but she also endorsed him when she gave him the opportunity at his Kasangati home at the special prayer she organized for her husband and all the political prisoners.
“Bobi Wine came with Ronald Balimwezo well knowing that Omuloodi Erias Lukwago who was contesting against him was at the some function and he (Bobi Wine) introduced Balimwezo to Byanyima and other people there as the next Kampala Lord Mayor,” he said.
He added that Byanyima has been using her influence as the UNAIDS Executive Director and her social media platforms to encourage Ugandans to vote for Bobi Wine which NUP foot soldiers interpreted as an endorsement to NUP and its candidates which badly affected PFF popularity and candidates.
Ono Bwino has also established that a number of elders especially Besigye’s allies are not happy with Bobi Wine who they accuse of abandoning fellow comrades in the political struggle.
They accuse him of being selfish which also cost him a lot of support from Rukungiri and Kabale areas.
“I was expecting Bobi Wine to at least preserve one hour every day when Besigye appears in Court to show solidarity to his comrade who is being persecuted. Seeing his comrades standing with him in the courtroom boast his moral but I was only seeing Ken Lukyamuzi and PFF leaders,” one of the Besigye allies said.
