Ono Bwino can exclusively report that Justice Aisha Naluzze Batala the Inspector General of Government (IGG) has directed investigations into allegations that there is ongoing nepotism and illegal staff recruitment at Mulago Specialized Women and Neonatal Hospital.
The directive was addressed to Maj. Dr. Tom Magambo the Police’s Director of Criminal Investigation Department (CID) and Brig Gen Henry Isoke’s State House Anti-Corruption Unit basing on the presidential directive guiding on how working together can help in the fight against corruption and criminality in the National Resistance Movement (NRM) government.
According to the petition seen by this website, a whistleblower is accusing the hospital top management of abusing their offices by bringing their relatives, girlfriends, boyfriends and friends to contest for the jobs which are supposed to be contested by internal staff working in the hospital.
“On 30th September 2025, management issued an internal advert inviting staff members to apply for the vacant positions in the hospital not later than 17th of October 2025 at 5pm EAT at the hospital’s Human Resource Office,” a petition read in parts.
The petitioner added that the advertised positions included; Assistant Accountant, Driver, Customer Care Assistant and Plumber.
Nineteen people were shortlisted for the interviews and these were; Elsass Nyakake, Caroline Nyakato, Faibe Mutuwa, Sarah Gumushabe, Glorious Tumwijeho, Esther Tendo, Sophia Muyinza, Penina Ankunda, Joel Dhikusooka, Alex Mukwaya, Valanta Museta, Muhamad Kazibwe, Allan Mujuni, Salim Setumba, Farooq Kamoga, Grace Kyampaire, Cosmas Okiring, Sheila Nelima, Samalie Nanyanzi, May Opu, Gerald Muhwezi and Ouma Wejuli
He explained that out of the nineteen shortlisted candidates only six are the workers of the hospital others were just brought in to compete for the jobs insisting that the illegalities committed in the process are likely to lead to unfairness.
The petitioner further claimed that Glorious Tumwijeko one of the competitors for one of the jobs came after her colleagues had finished the interview but was allowed to sit alone which is was erroneous and should be corrected
However, one of the top managers at the hospital boasted that nothing is going to stop them from proceeding with the processes of recruiting new staff.
