Beatrice Mao the wife to maverick Justice and Constitutional Affairs minister Norbert Mao wants Erias Lukwago Ssalongo to resign as Kampala Lord Mayor over businessman Hamis Kiggundu’s Nakivubo drainage channel floods.
Beatrice Mao insists that as the political head, Lukwago is responsible for mismanagement of the city and should account for whatever happened instead of not hiding behind the excuse of blaming the technical wing as he enjoys tax payers’ money.
“If that Nakivubo crisis occurred in London where I spent much of my time, by now Lukwago would be out of office. People here should learn to take responsibility for any wrong doing and resign,” Beatrice Mao said
She warned that if elected as the next Lord Mayor of Kampala, she will start with fighting corruption in the city because the people working in both the technical and political wing are corrupt and fully participated in shielding Kiggundu’s illegality of building on the top of the drainage channel.

“You hear that KCCA councilors pocketed this amount of money for allowing the construction, but now everyone is pretending,” she said.
However, Lukwago insists that National Unity Platform (NUP) councilors are to blame for passing a resolution allowing Kiggundu to build on top of the drainage channel.
