An overly excited Kampala City Lord Mayor Ssalongo Erias Lukwago revealed to his close comrades who were enjoying a boat cruise on Lake Victoria to celebrate with his the 55th birthday that his next party will be held when he is entering his multibillion home.
Lukwago confirmed to his friends in the middle of Lake Victoria that he is nearly finishing his retirement home on top of Mutundwe hill and he will enter his new home after the 2026 general elections shifting from his posh Lubaga home.
“I was seeing that building which is under construction and at first, I thought it was owned by UPDF General or a senior operative because they are the ones with a lot of money but I was shocked by the Lord Mayor to confirm that he is the one who owns the building,” a source said.
He added that before enjoying another birthday party at City Hall which was organized by KCCA Executive Director Hajjat Sharifah Buzeki, he revealed to them that because of personal and health issues, he is set to retire from active politics in 2031 to run his personal business.
Recently, FDC’s Ibrahim Kasozi claimed that Lukwago assured him in 2021 that he was not going to contest for KCCA Lord mayor in 2026.
Kasozi disclosed that Lukwago made this promise in the presence of Bugiri Municipality legislator Asuma Basalirwa at Prince Dr Kassim Nakibinge’s Kibuli based mosque.
Kasozi divulged that Lukwago even advised him that if he was interested in the said position, he should prepare early and it is the reason why he is going to contest for the seat come 2026.
Sources claim that Lukwago is one of the loaded politicians with some money.
H owns a commercial building in Kyengera a long Masaka road, a profitable law firm, and a prime property in Wakaliga which also serves as his home which can feed him during retirement.
