Imam Iddi Kasozi a celebrated Muslim cleric together with Buganda Kingdom’s CBS radio’s Program’s Director Abbey Mukiibi Nkaga have started a mobilization drive to get Shs80m to save Dr Adam Kimala a retired Mulago hospital surgeon and a diehard friend to Kabaka of Buganda Ronald Muwenda Mutebi.

The drive kicked off after Dr Kimala publicly announced that his life is under threat and very soon he might die because of failing to respond to doctor’s directive to return back to India for a second medical operation.

He explained that recently, he privately paid for his medical bills in India and was operated upon after doctors locally and internationally established that he was suffering from bladder cancer.

After the first operation, doctors advised him to return for a second operation.

“I’m here going through a lot of paid inside my stomach, I know the reason because the doctors advised me to return back to India last year but I failed to get the money. Now I’m just here waiting for God’s decision to take me,” Dr Kimala said.

He added that he tried to look for support from his former bosses and government officials but they all declined to help him because of the decision he took against president Museveni’s government when he petitioned Court challenging the decision of government to block Kabaka Mutebi from visiting his Bugerere county in 2009.

“Yes, by then my bosses directed me to withdraw the petition from Court, I declined because it was beyond my capacity to withdraw the case and I pleaded with them to talk to the Kabaka and all the Baganda and if they accept their prayer, I was ready to withdraw the case. Instead, they were furious and from then, they have been angry with me,” Kimala said.

Imam Kasozi and Mukiibi both explained that they decided to lead the drive because Dr Kimala has done a lot of things to Buganda Kingdom, Kabaka Mutebi as a person and the Muslim community in Uganda and they cannot just ignore him at the time when he needs their help so much.

Dr Kimala has authored a number of books which include: Nkaabira Buganda, Buganda Gye Twasubwa, Bajja Nga Abasaaga, Abaganda ab’edda and many others.
