National Unity Platform (NUP) president Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu (Bobi Wine) has assigned Gen Gaza the coordinator and head of the party youth mobilization group (Foot Soldiers) to make sure that none journalists are not allowed to film or take pictures at the party headquarters.
Gen. Gaza is cooperating with the party security bosses who include Edward Ssebuufu and Achilles Kivumbi to make sure that the principal’s directive is executed without fail and all journalists entering the party headquarters are currently being directed to wear their media houses identification cards to avoid being mistaken as strangers.
To execute the directive properly, Gen Gaza and his colleagues on the security team have decided to put up a tent where journalists have to sit whenever there is a function attended by Bobi Wine and other party leaders and they are the only ones allowed to take pictures or film the event.
They have also agreed to deploy their operatives in different tents to monitor those taking pictures and anyone they will capture taking them without authorisation will have their gadget taken.
A few days ago, Radio Sapientia journalist, a one Katabalwa was saved by fellow journalists after being netted by Gen Gaza taking pictures without putting on his media house identification card, it took time for him to explain himself and show his identification card.
One of the security officers at NUP has also revealed to Top Secrets that Bobi Wine took the decision to save their people from being tranced and kidnapped by security.
“We have been arresting security operatives deployed here filming our colleagues and taking their pictures. These operatives know our names but they did not know our faces, so when they take our pictures, they identify our people and they are arrested. So, we think the move will help,” he said.
The move has been taken at a time when security have started threatening to arrest and charge NUP supporters for behaving like military personnel by using military wear. On Monday, Fred Nyanzi Ssentamu, the party’s mobilization chief was arrested and party leadership are still looking for him.
Kampala Metropolitan police spokesperson Patrick Onyango promised NUP leadership that security will come out with an elaborate statement on Nyanzi’s arrest around Kubiiri near pastor Samuel Kayanja’s church.
