Few days back, there was panic and tension at the home of the Muslim titular leader Prince Dr Kassim Nakibinge Kakungulu as former Leader of Opposition and Nyendo-Mukungwe legislator Mathius Mpuuga Nsamba was blocked at the gate.
Highly placed and reliable sources at Prince’s home in Kibuli a Kampala suburb revealed to Top Secrets that Mpuuga was blocked together with a delegation from his political pressure group the Democratic Alliance (DA).
Among the members on Mpuuga’s delegation who were blocked included: Former Makindye East legislator Mike Mabikke, former KCCA councillor Henry Lubowa and others.
It is alleged they failed to convince the Prince on why they wanted to meet him.
“When they reached the gate, we asked them whether the Prince was expecting them because he was there. They confirmed that it is true he was expecting them. But we usually first consult him to avoid making mistakes. Every time he is at home, he sends us a paper with a list of names of people he expects that day and when they come they just show us their identification and they allowed inside” one of the security detail of the Prince narrates.
He added that before allowing Mpuuga and his delegation to enter the home of the Prince, they sent one of them to go and consult but they were shocked to learn that the Prince’s assistants were not expecting Mpuuga and his group.
“Because Mpuuga is a big person in the country, the assistant to the Prince decided to consult him in person to understand whether he had any engagement with him and his delegation. The Prince denied giving them any appointment and wondered how can a big man like Mpuuga can come to his home without his knowledge. He directed his security personal ask them why they wanted to see him,” a source said.
He added that Mpuuga’s people told them that they have come to console and comfort the Prince for the loss of her mother who passed on in December last year.
They even had items to deliver to the Prince.
When they return the message to the Prince, he directed his security to inform Mpuuga’s team that the time of mourning, consoling and comforting him and his family over the death of their mother was over and they had moved on. He advised them to make another arrangement so that he meets them but at the moment he was very engaged and didn’t have time for them.
“Maybe they wanted to use him to play their politics because I have been seeing them meeting different people but the Prince is a different person who doesn’t allow to be used to play in politics,” a close friend of the Prince said.
However, when contacted, Mabikke was very shocked concerning the story, “ Who gave you that story, tell me! I’m not aware of what you’re telling me” he insisted.
When we quizzed him further, he told us that he was going for a meeting and promised to get back to us and explain whatever happened at lunch time which he didn’t do.
When we contacted Dr Muhammad Kiggundu, the spokesperson of the Kibuli based Supreme Mufti office over the incident, he said that the Prince only meets people with appointment, “ I cannot confirm or deny because I was not there and I don’t have any knowledge concerning that meeting, so giving a comment will be misleading you and your readers,” a soft spoken educationists said.
Early this year, Mpuuga declared that he was going to engage countrymen and women over his planned amendments in the country’s electoral laws and he has been meeting different political parties’ leaders in the country.
It should be also noted that Prince Nakibinge was very bitter when the parliamentary Commission’s allowed Mpuuga and other parliamentary Commissioners to walk scotch free after bagging between Shs500m to Shs300m yet Ugandans are dying in the hospitals because of lack of medicine.
