This website can exclusively report that since the start of October 2025, National Unity Platform (NUP) Secretary General David Lewis Rubongoya has been contacting a number of his party’s grassroot political mobilizers commonly known as foot soldiers convincing them not to execute orders given to them by their supreme commander in Kampala Central Division Sauda Madada who is currently in jail.
Insiders told Ono Bwino that Madada issued the orders from Luzira women prison after learning that Rubongoya is using her imprisonment to de-campaign her in favour of Eva Kyazike the party’s flag bearer for the position of Kampala Central councillor at Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA)
“She told us that after seeing what is going on in the party, she realized that the political struggle against Museveni has been hijacked by regime operatives. Commander Madada is in prison because of NUP and it is unfortunate seeing our boss Rubongoya telling people to de-campaign her because Kyazike is a relative to our principal Bobi Wine,” a NUP foot soldier told Ono Bwino.
He added that when they visited Madada recently in prison, she was very desperate and pleaded with them to intensify her campaigns deep in the ghettos of Kampala Central and also revenge on Rubongoya who is de-campaigning her.
This website has learnt that it is now three weeks since the day when Madada issued the order and Rubongoya has started feeling the head on ground and feeling her presence even though she is in prison.
“Rubongoya has felt the pressure and he has started contacting our people not to fight him. He is even denying having a hand in denying Madada a party ticket when we know very well that he was with Ronald Balimwezo when making the final decision on who should be given the party ticket,” a source said
Rubongoya was given a NUP ticket to contest for the position of Kampala Central Division Member of Parliament and Kampala minister Hajjat Minsa Kabanda of the NRM is his immediate opponent.
Sources claim that Rubongoya is a bad candidate in Kampala city and foot soldiers are divided even though he is fighting to unite the top leaders in the Division where he compromised Moses Katabu who was going to contest against him to contest as Kampala Central Division mayor.
