This website can exclusively report that when National Unity Platform (NUP) Principal Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu (Bobi Wine) spent almost a day at his Busabala beach enjoying a boat cruise with Makindye Division mayor Ali Kasirye Mulyanyama, he summoned Saharah Luyirika the Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) Speaker for a private meeting.
Highly placed sources have revealed that another meeting took place immediately after in Bobi Wine’s office at his party headquarters in Makerere Kavule and it almost took two hours.
During the meeting, Bobi Wine tried to convince Luyirika to abandon her political interest to contest in Makindye West because the party is planning to front Mulyanyama.
“ You remember Bobi Wine used the same boat cruise to convince Mulyanyama to abandon his political interest to contest for Kampala Lord Mayor position, because the party had reserved that position for Ronald Balimwezo who accepted to leave his Nakawa East MP position for Bobi Wine’s henchman and also the party spokesperson Alex Waiswa Mufumbiro. The same thing was done to Fred Nyanzi Ssentamu who was the first to pick interest to contest as Kampala Lord Mayor,” a NUP source said.

He added that after a lengthy explanation, Bobi Wine advised Luyirika who many at the party headquarters believe is the principal’s special eye to remain as a councilor for Makindye West at KCCA
Luyirika asked with Bobi Wine to give her more time to consult her people on ground arguing that she has already invested on the ground.
She further assured the Principal that after two weeks, she will seek an appointment with Bobi Wine.
This was after several pleas with the big man where she insisted that 2026 is the ripe for her to go to parliament because she has tested the ground fell on deaf ears.
“Bobi Wine was confused, he also asked her to give him more time to consult. In April 2025, Luyirika broke the good news to her supporters at City hall and in Makindye that the big man had accepted her bid to contest for a Member of Parliament seat. She however told her supporters that she will not contest in Makindye Division but in Kampala District as the woman Member of Parliament. She boasted that no one understands Bobi Wine like her because on several occasions, Bobi Wine has been shielding her over allegations of corruption and dealing with Museveni’s people,” a source said.
When contacted, Mulyanyama assured us that he is going to contest in Makindye West even though David Musiri and the incumbent Allan Ssewanyana are also fighting to the NUP ticket.
However, sources said that Bobi Wine advised Musiri to look for a Councillor slot in Makindye because he is not ready for MP seat.
Musiri declined to listen to the principal’s advice and decided to pick papers from the party’s electoral committee.
Sources claim that it seems Malende’s demise was caused by David Lewis Rubongoya who advised Bobi Wine to allow Luyirika to contest against the incumbent Kampala District woman legislator because on several occasions he has been complaining against her for abandoning party activities
“ When she was sick, Rubongoya visited her home and openly advised her to style up because Bobi Wine was not happy with her especially her behaviours of not picking his phone calls. But jokingly, Malende wondered why Bobi Wine is not calling her through WhatsApp because it is easy for her to pick WhatsApp calls. This annoyed Rubongoya and he reported back to Bobi Wine,” a source said.
He added that the party leadership got information that instead of participating in the party activities, Malende was spending her time with her boyfriend a one Shamil Ssebunya at their offices in Kawempe Ttula even though she told them that she was still sick and honouring her doctors advice of resting.
Sources added that Bobi Wine and other party leaders have been very suspicious concerning Malende since they allege she was part of the negotiations that were led by former Leader of Opposition in Parliament Mathias Mpuuga which resulted into the release of fallen Kawempe North legislator Muhammad Ssegirinya and Makindye West’s Allan Ssewanyana from prison.
Malende has severally denied the allegation insisting that she only represented the accused persons in courts of law and by the time they were released, she was abroad receiving treatment.
Malende is also accused of not building a strong base on ground through establishing youth mobilization groups commonly known as ‘egaali’ which will help protect Bobi Wine’s anticipated victory in Kampala come 2026.
“Apart from the one million shilling which the party receives from all party Members of Parliament, Malende also refused to contribute to the running of other party activities. When she is approached, she claims that she is giving free legal services to party supporters who are arrested and charged in courts of law on political related cases,” a source said.
However sources close to Malende intimated to us that she was shocked to learn that her party bosses have already set up someone to contest against her on the party ticket even though she has done everything in her capacity to serve the party
Some fellow legislators in NUP understood the situation she was going through because she was in constant communication with them.
Senior politicians in NUP especially Aisha Kabanda the party deputy secretary general and also the Butambala district woman legislator, Muhammad Muwanga Kivumbi the party National deputy president in charge of Buganda and also the Butambala county legislator and others are very suspicious of Luyirika since they have been together with her in politics and they know how she plays her double standard politics.
“ I will talk to Bobi Wine because he is the final man on who will get the ticket, but that Luyirika woman is a double dealer. I remember her being among the KCCA councilors bankrolled by Museveni through Jennifer Musisi and Frank Tumwebaze to impeach Erias Lukwago from the position of Kampala Lord Mayor because he was helping opposition to use Kampala city to fight Museveni government,” a source said.
He added that the Muslim titular leader Dr Prince Kassim Nakibinge Kakungulu will also help them to save Malende because even though sometimes she has been misled by the boyfriend, she is a performer and can help the struggle in parliament better than Luyirika.
When contacted, Luyirika said that the decision to contest against Malende was not guided by any person at her party headquarters. Luyirika claims that it is her political strategists who advised her to raid Kampala. She maintains that she has no personal grudge against the person of Malende and she will accept and congratulate her if she is defeated in a fair and proper competition.
She challenged those who claim that she is in bed with Museveni to provide evidence.
It should be remembered that Luyirika is still under investigations on allegation of corruption and abuse of office by Beti Namisango Kamya the Inspector General of Government (IGG).
