Since Dr Kizza Besigye’s kidnap upon which he was charged before the military court martial, there has been a bitter exchange of words on the social media platforms between his lawyers, supporters and lawyer Kassim Male Mabirizi.
Mabirizi was angered by Besigye’s lawyers especially Samuel Muyizzi and Kampala Lord Mayor Ssalongo Erias Lukwago who he accused of failing to make their case to save their client and instead they decided to use Jamil Mukulu the founding leader of Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) as the scape goat for their failure.
It all began when Besigye’s lawyers and supporters queried their man’s trial in the military court yet a rebel leader is being tried in the civilian court.
Mukulu’s cases are currently before the Crimes War Division of the High Court.

Mabirizi criticised some of Besigye’s lawyers when they had come to attend the Supreme Court session where the seven (7) Justices were delivering a landmark judgement in the famous Kabaziguruka case to openly advise them to stop dragging Mukulu in Besigye’s troubles.
“Now that I have met you physically, we have been having exchanges on the social media. Stop dragging Mukulu in Besigye’s troubles, I’m telling you, you will create enmity for your client in the prison because Mukulu has been there for a longer time than Besigye which means he has friends who can fight for him, so be careful, for me I was there for 18 months,” Mabirizi told Muyizi.
Muyizzi lost his temper and he also challenged Mabirizi to stop making himself so special by commenting and trying to give advice on each and every matter.
“Mabirizi, you were not the first person to be imprisoned on political issues, for us we have been in safe houses for months so you’re not special,” Muyizzi said as moved back to chat with other lawyers.
Mabirizi remained with lawyer Erias Nalukoola Luyimbazi who was praising him for telling Muyizzi the truth alleging that he was also not happy with them throwing insults at Mukulu his client given that he is at the same time a lawyer to Besigye.
Mabirizi boasted that for him, he is a village drunkard who fears nothing but says the truth as it is. Muyizzi heard Mabirizi’s statements and returned very angry.
He warned Mabirizi to stop thinking that he is so special.
Nalukoola intervened advising Muyizzi to go back and chat with fellow lawyers, noting that exchanging words with Mabirizi is like fighting with a mad man who can even throw stones at him or roll him in the mud.
“It’s true I can pick a stone and throw hit him on the head. I’m not a joking subject. So, Muyizzi, give me space,” Mabirizi threatened.
Muyizzi decided to give Mabirizi the space he asked for but pinted a warning at him and warned him to stop insulting every person and thinking that he is special person.
