Maverick Lwengo district woman Member of Parliament (MP) Cissy Dionizia Namujju has revealed that her party the National Resistance Movement (NRM) has devised a political strategy which is going to help them recover Buganda from the hands of the National Unity Platform (NUP) at all costs.
Namujju narrated that Buganda was zoned into different divisions to help them execute their plan noting that more emphasis is going to be put on greater Masaka, greater Luwero and the cattle corridors.
She advised those who were defeated in the previous NRM primaries not to stand as independent in the general coming elections
“This time, what I can confirm to you is it is not going to be business as usual. We are going to recover what we lost in 2021. Even if it will means fighting or dying, we shall die but we will secure Buganda region. I know very well that I have a number of friends who are not going to contest on the NRM ticket including Joan Namutaawe who is contesting on NUP ticket as Masaka district woman MP, but because of the NRM, I’m ready and determined to crush her into pieces,” Namujju who is facing criminal charges related to corruption boasted.
Namujju made the warning as Attorney General Kiryowa Kiwanuka the chief coordinator and patron ‘Buganda for Museveni’ political campaign is in talks with those who were defeated in the NRM parliamentary primaries not to contest in the general elections but instead mobilize support for the party candidates. He is also promising them good deals after the elections including jobs in the next government.
“Who told you that the Attorney General is not supposed to do politics, my friend I’m also a minister in Museveni government,” Kiwanuka said
He was supported by the Commissioner of the party’s election committee James Williams Kinobe who said that chances are high that NRM is going to recover Buganda basing on the ongoing opposition internal fights especially within NUP.
He further revealed that they want to front a single candidate for every position and he is very sure that those who were denied tickets in NUP are going to contest against the party’s candidate which will give their candidates the opportunity to defeat them since their votes will be divided.
Muhammad Muwanga Kivumbi, NUP’s National deputy president in charge of Buganda confirmed that NRM has put a lot of energy and money to win Buganda and it is the reason why they were very careful when selecting candidates to carry their party ticket.
“ We know there are ongoing talks between Museveni’s henchmen and our people who we denied tickets and billions of monies have been put a side to facilitate their campaigns in these elections. I even know some who have already received the money,” Kivumbi claimed.
He explained that his task now as one of the top party leaders in Buganda is to make sure that their party President Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu (Bobi Wine) officially introduces the official party candidates to the voters wherever he goes to campaign and plead with them to vote for them because they have established that there are people who are moving around telling voters that even though the party’s Elections Management Committee denied them a ticket but Bobi Wine is behind them.
When he was campaigning in Mityana district, Bobi Wine pleaded with voters not vote for Joyce Bagala the district woman legislator and Richard Kizito Lumu of Mityana South who he accused of selling their souls to Museveni to fight him personally.
Bobi Wine further claimed that Museveni is the one behind the new opposition political parties which have been registered during the preparations of the 2026 general elections and he has funded a person who has a similar name with him thinking that it will help them reduce his votes in Buganda.
