This investigative website can exclusively report that National Unity Platform (NUP) principal Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu(Bobi Wine) and other top leaders were put to task by the European Union delegation to explain to them the meaning and entire plan in their protest vote.
Few months back, Bobi Wine declared that he is going to contest as a presidential candidate come 2026 adding that it is going to be a protest vote against President Museveni’s government. He ordered his fellow leaders to start mobilizing youth groups he branded as ‘egaali’ to help them achieve their planned political move.
Bobi Wine’s declaration has placed security agencies in panic which resulted into arrests of some NUP youth leaders and his personal bodyguards who have been charged with criminal offences which the leading opposition political party termed as fabricated.
This website can authoritative report that government authorities filed their complain to the foreign delegations who have been condemning and accusing government of mistreating the opposition especially Bobi Wine’s party members.
In defence, state agencies reported that the said people who are alleging that they are being mistreated are the ones who are provoking the sitting government because they cannot look on as groups plan to send the country in turmoil yet they swore to protect them when they voted them into office.
When the European Union delegation met the National Resistance Movement (NRM) party leadership, they pleaded with Jan Sadek, the European Union ambassador, to draw his attention to the threats issued against the government by Bobi Wine’s team.
Mukono Municipality legislator Betty Nambooze who attended the four hours meeting at Makerere Kavule, the headquarters of NUP confirmed that they spent a lot of time explaining to the European Union delegation the meaning of the protest vote.
“In my mind, I understand that those people know the meaning of a protest vote. What they to know is how are we going to execute ours during the election period. Being our development partner, our president explained what we mean when we talk about a protest vote and we used this opportunity to condemn them for sidelining with Museveni when he is violating the basic rights of Ugandans,” Nambooze said.
She added that Bobi Wine explained to Sadek’s delegation that in the previous election, Bobi Wine failed to protect his win because he was not prepared enough and had no systems in place to help him. So he is building these systems currently.

However other sources who attended the meeting revealed to this website that Bobi Wine was warned to be careful with his protest vote scheme because there are fears that the move could result into bloodshed and human rights violation. This pissed off Bobi Wine and he told the delegations that they have been looking on as Ugandans rights are being violated. He assured them that Ugandans are in control of their political struggle and they are ready to liberate themselves.
“Yes, it is true our president lost his penitence and told the delegation that Ugandans are tired of their condemning statements when government is brutally killing them. He told them that they should sanction individuals involved in committing these crimes against Ugandan including halting grants and loans to the government because this is the money they are using to fight the opposition,” a source said.
He added that Bobi Wine was very happy with the US government and urged the European Union to join the American government in prosecuting and sanctioning those individuals involved in violating people’s rights in the international court since Ugandan laws have failed to punish them.
Nambooze also revealed that Bobi Wine told Sadek’s delegations that the real trouble is with Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba the Chief of Défense Forces (CDF) whom she accused of fuelling tribalism through his X handle.
“We told them that they looked on when genocide took place in Rwanda in the 1990s and only came out when it was too late when people were being killed. We asked them whether it is the same thing they want in Uganda. Bobi Wine told them that he has started cleaning his hands because he has written to concerned citizens to intervene before the situation gets out of hand,” a source said.
Nambooze also said that Bobi Wine told Sadek’s delegation that Ugandans know that the European Union is not tough on Museveni government because it helps them to fight their military wars like in Somalia and other countries.
“That’s our army not Museveni’s. It is our children who are helping him to make money, we told them that their actions will force Ugandans to stop trusting them,” Nambooze said.
However, Sadek assured Bobi Wine and the entire country that the European Union will be there for Ugandans and they will make sure that the 2026 elections are carried out peacefully without bloodshed.
He also assured them that they will engage other stakeholders especially political parties, religious leaders and cultural leaders in the country.
