The family of former Kampala city Lord Mayor and also the president of the People’s Front for Freedom (PFF) Ssalongo Erias Lukwago is very scared because of the nightmares their relative is experiencing at night.
Sarah Basemera the Makindye Court Chief Magistrate committed Lukwago to the Criminal Division of the High Court to face full trial on charges of mistreason to treason after dismissing his bail application where he sought to be released and face trial from outside the prison.
Justice David Matovu of the High Court also dismissed Lukwago’s next application for bail even though medical experts from Mulago National Referral Hospital recommended that he should be taken to India for specialised treatment.
Since his remand two months back, Lukwago has been admitted to Murchison Bay prison referral hospital where doctors are monitoring his health condition.

However, two weeks back, as he was walking in the corridors of the prison hospital, Lukwago went through a shocking incident after he found two dead bodies dropped in the corridors of the prison’s hospital.
“The incident worsened Lukwago’s health condition and he no longer gets good sleep at night. He is experiencing bad dreams that usually lave him scared,” a highly placed sources in the prison revealed.
Because of the scary experience Lukwago is going through, medical doctors recommended that Lukwago be transferred back to other prison wards. He was informed to prepare himself to relocate to B-1 ward.
B-1 is a luxuries prison ward where high profile inmates like Chris Obore the embattled Communication and Corporate parliament directors and other parliament bosses who are facing embezzlement, money laundering and corruption charges reside.
Sources said that because of his health conditions, close family members have started engaging prison’s leadership to allow Lukwago to bring his special bed to prison because sleeping on normal beds was worsening his health condition.
Sources said that Lukwago spent more than Shs20m in purchasing the said bed following the guidance and advice from his India specialised doctors.
It is also alleged that Lukwago is also experiencing strange voices.
Lukwago reported to Court that his equipment which was protecting him from receiving those strange voices was damaged by prison warders who claimed that they were electric gadgets used in recording and are not allowed in prison.
Lukwago was abducted from his Wakaliga home after threatening to drive to Mbuya military headquarters to serve the Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba Court documents requiring him to defend himself on allegations of violating opposition strongman Dr Kizza Besigye’s human rights.
Lukwago was part of the legal team that was representing Besigye in treason charges before Justice Emmanuel Baguma of the Criminal Division of the High Court.
