Jubilations engulfed Murchison Bay prison when prisoners’ leadership offloaded a 60-inch television from Nalongo Zawedde Lubwama’s car and its was placed on the wall of the prisons hospital.
As television set was being raised on the wall, prisoners were busy praising former Kampala city and People’s Front for Freedom (PFF) president Ssalongo Erias Lukwago’s name and asking God to shield him from his enemies.
Ono Bwino has learnt that Lukwago directed his wife Nalongo Zawedde to bring for him a large television set because the one which he found in the ward where he sleeps with other inmates was too small for his eyes.
In prison, prisoners spend much of their time watching news, soaps and football.

It’s not only the prisoners sleeping in hospital ward who are jubilating, even the Muslim community at the Murchison Bay prison jumped with joy after Lukwago bought for them a 10,000-water tank.
“Water means a lot to a Muslim, we thank the former Lord Mayor because when we raised our problem, he responded very first. We are pleading to our mighty Allah to answer his prayers as a person abundantly,” a Muslim prisoner told this website.
We further learnt that Lukwago is among the many inmates who don’t miss daily prayers and Juma on Friday and whenever he gets the opportunity to speak to inmates, he encourages them to always pray for Uganda noting that the country is facing a leadership crisis which needs God’s intervention.
Ono Bwino understands that because of Lukwago’s presence at Murchison Bay, innovations have been done at the Muslim Mosque and hospital wards.
Lukwago who is accused of failing to report to the authorities that opposition strongman Dr Kizza Besigye, his political assistant Obed Lutale and others were planning to assassinate President Museveni and to illegally overthrow his government has joined other influential prisoners like Chandi Jamwa, former vice president Gilbert Bukenya who have left a mark at Murchison Bay prison.
