Security of the Uganda Tax Operators Federation (UTOF) National chairperson Rashid Ssekindi and his vice chairperson Mustafah Mayambala has been tightened after fellow leaders raided their offices on Nalubwama Arcade in Kampala city centre targeting them over president Museveni’s Shs1bn cash.
Last week, Musatafah Muwonge the UTOF deputy chief of security was intercepted by Mayambala and Ssekindi’s civilian guards commanded by a one Ismail Kawooya also a taxi driver in Kampala as he walked towards the principals’ offices and he was physically forced out of the premises.
“Muwonge, what do you want from here? You are still on suspension and you are not supposed to come to this office until the suspension is lifted, so go away,” Kawooya warned as him and his men threw Muwonge out of the premises.
Muwonge tried to put up a fight while shouting on top of his voice that he had come to pick his money which he was demanding from Mayambala and Ssekindi which President Museveni gave him and other drivers for transporting people from different parts of Buganda region to Kololo independence grounds.
Before he could finish pleading his case, he was overpowered and thrown out.
As he was leaving, he left a standing warning to Mayambala and Ssekindi that he will be back soon to Nalubwama arcade with enough manpower to throw them out of their offices through windows if they do not pay him his Shs7 million.
He disclosed that he was among the tax drivers contacted by SSekindi and Mayambala to get tax drivers to transport people to Kololo and they agreed to be paid Shs10m. He was first paid Shs3m and a balance of Shs7m remained which he was supposed to be paid after the work was done.
He added that he is not the only UTOF leader who is demanding his money. He revealed that Sadat Kalyango Ssemwanje the secretary for youth and sports is also demanding his money but he was silenced on top of suspending him.
Kalyango confirmed to this reporter that he has filed a complaint at Kampala Central Police Station accusing Mayambala and Ssekindi of inciting violence against him at their association offices on Namaganda arcade.
“The deal was Shs1bn, the minister gave Shs500m to Mayambala and Ssekindi in cash in my presence. As a leader, I was supposed to get Shs20m to mobilize youths from Nansana, Bwaise, Kalerwe and the surrounding ghettos to President Museveni at Kololo independence ground. I was supposed to first brief them before and paid them money so that when they appear before the president, they denounce their political support for National Unity Platform (NUP) and their principal Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu (Bobi Wine),” he said.
He Added that he was given only Shs10m which he used in transporting youths who attended the president’s meeting at Kololo from the areas he was assigned.
He claimed that after the meeting, he made several phone calls to Ssekindi a brother to junior minister of water Hajjat Aisha Ssekindi and Mayanja but they did not pick until he decided to go to their office to meet him but he was shocked when goons commanded by a one Khalid Bbale started insulting him and badly injured him.
This website understand that the Shs500m that was released by the minister to facilitate the transportation of people to attend Museveni’s political gathering at Kololo on 25 of September 2025 and was shared among UTOF leaders and coordinators Kalyango, Mayambala, Ssekindi, Simon Okape, Mustafah Muwanga, Aimbisibwe Naboth and others
Even though Muwonge, Kalyango and other coordinators are claiming that they executed the assignment, when contacted, Ssekindi said that all the people who were given money didn’t work and on that said day and they even switched off their phones and went into hiding.
He explained that they decided to use their own money to do the job which the minister had paid for and left the association disciplinary committee to take over the matter where the accused persons were convicted and sentenced with indefinite suspension from the association.
“We will go to police when summoned. Kalyango and his friends think that because the money was released by the minister, we don’t have to make accountability. I’m afraid to tell them that we have to make it and they will be arrested, for that assure them,” furious Ssekindi said.
However, Kalyango and Muwonge also assured Ssekindi and Mayambala that he will also vomit their balance or else he is going to use the tricks they used to force Yasin Ssematimba the former UTOF national chairperson out of office when he was also accused of involving himself in fraudulent deals.
