In one of the meetings recently with Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) staff, Kampala city junior minister Christopher Kabuye Kyofatogabye informed them that his chances of bouncing back as a minister in charge of the city are minimal.

He boasted that his bosses are very happy with him because he has executed well the assignment given to him.

He jokingly told them that one of the assignments he was given was to make sure that Ssalongo Erias Lukwago losses the Kampala Lord Mayor office which he did and he is waiting for his next assignment as a cadre.

However, Ono Bwino can exclusively report that the minister made the said statements after learning that Museveni has directed his Senior presidential advisor in charge of special operations also the Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba to recommend individuals to be deployed as Kampala ministers in the coming government.

Former State House operative Charles Rwomushana confirmed that currently, Kampala city is under the direct supervision of Gen Muhoozi because it is a national security nerve and it has to be under security intelligence all the time.

Highly placed sources said that Gen Muhoozi recently was briefed about the huge corruption in the city especially in the physical infrastructure department, District Land Board and he has shared his findings with Brig Gen Henry Isoke the commandant of the State House Anti-Corruption Unit and very soon, arrests will be done at city hall.

Ono Bwino has learnt that Gen Muhoozi has assigned a team to search for suitable persons who can work well with the current technical wing headed by Hajat Sharif Buzeki to make Kampala city attractive especially during the 2027 CAF football tournament.

The team has zeroed on Dr Patrick Wakida the newly elected Kabweri County Member of Parliament and a celebrated researcher who is also exposed and experienced in governance.

Ono Bwino has also learnt that Gen Salim Saleh, President Museveni’s young brother who is also the coordinator of Operation Wealth Creation played a central role in convincing Dr Wakida to abandon his longtime political friend Dr Besigye and join the NRM.

This website has learnt that Dr Wakida will be helped by Amanda Ngabirano as a state minister to plan and run Kampala city as the country is going through a political transition from Museveni to the younger generation led by Gen Muhoozi as Gen Saleh.

Currently, Ngabirano is a senior lecturer at Makerere University and also the chairperson of the National Physical Planning Board.

She focuses on non-motorized transport and she initiated projects like the Namirembe Road-Luwum Street non-motorized corridor in Kampala.

According to sources, Gen Muhoozi was briefed that Ngabirano will help in designing a suitable plan for decongesting Kampala.

She is also known for advocating for cycling and walking to reduce pollution, lower transport costs, and make cities more inclusive.
