The National Unity Platform (NUP) Deputy Secretary for research who is also the Personal Assistant to former presidential candidate Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu (Bobi Wine) Sharif Najja Ssenyonjo has accused Special Forces Command (SFC) Commandos of raiding his home and kidnaping his wife Fauzia Natambi.
Najja claims that his wife is still under SFC custody and they don’t allow his family members, doctor and lawyers to access her as the law commands. He has thus threatened to take legal action against the army and the Attorney General if his wife is not unconditionally released.
However, when contacted, Maj. Jimmy Omara the SFC spokesperson denied the allegation that the army unit that provides security to the person of the President, his family members and the country’s sensitive installations is holding Najja’s wife.
He challenged him to single out the place where his wife is being detained if indeed he is not telling lies to the public to tarnish the army’s good name.
NUP leadership released a video on social media captured by cameras placed at Najja’s home showing armed men dressed in uniforms resembling those of UPDF and others in civilian clothes raiding Najja’s home looking for the head of the family.
NUP claimed that the raiders got angry after establishing that Najja the person of their interest was not at home so they decided to go with his wife to help in their ongoing investigations.
Highly placed sources in security revealed to Ono Bwino that Najja is wanted to help security to establish How and who helped his boss Bobi Wine escape from his home and move out of the country which exposed the country’s intelligence and security systems.
Sources said that Bobi Wine was supposed to be arrested in the style that American special commandos arrested Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores but the planned operation leaked to Bobi Wine and he escaped to survive the arrest.
During the same time, Najja’s movements were also lost and intelligence later learnt that he was also aware of the said operation to arrest his boss and that is the reason he also sneaked out of the country through Rwanda to South Africa.
Sources said that as security was hunting for Bobi Wine’s whereabouts, they were also following Najja’s movements and communications and they were very sure that getting him would help them to get his boss.
In early march, he returned into the country this time through Malaba border.
Even though security were very sure that Najja was in the country, his movements and communication were not under their control and it is the reason why roadblocks were placed on a number of major roads and his family was put under pressure
Sources divulged that Najja is a person of interest because his mother is a senior State House boss and his family is well-known to the President and his brother Gen Salim Saleh because they played a vital role in the 1980-armed liberation struggle.
Sources disclosed that State House facilitated Najja and his sibling’s education and their welfare and that’s why Gen Saleh used his elder brother Nassif Najja the Wakiso district council speaker to get NUP councillors and settle political issues after the 2021 general elections.
Sources revealed that Najja has a lot of contacts in security and intelligence circles and it is the reason why Bobi Wine deployed him as his Personal Assistant and he has been using his to execute sensitive assignments.
Najja also has contacts in Arab countries and is among the Muslim youths who don’t miss pilgrims to Saudi Arabia for Hajj and Umrah and security is investigating those contacts and how they have been helping Bobi Wine.
The development comes at a time when security is still investigating Bobi Wine on the allegations of having contacts with Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) founding commander Sheikh Jamil Mukulu Kyagulanyi who is currently faces terrorism and murder charges after being arrested in Tanzania in 2015.
When Bobi Wine was in Butambala district together with his national deputy president in charge of Buganda, Muhammad Muwanga Kivumbi, he praised Mukulu for his contribution to the struggle against Museveni and promised him that he will be released as soon as his party takes power.
Security expert Charles Rwomushana revealed that a number of security commanders and government officials will be arrested over Bobi Wine’s escape noting that Bobi Wine’s escape as a person of interest exposes the country’s security and intelligence.
The development also comes at a time when Counter terrorism commandos who provide Bobi Wine with security in the 2026 general elections were arrested and allegations were made that they were charged and dismissed from the force with disgrace.
The commandos were identified as Jeff Okadan, John Osike, Joshua Kigenyi, Emma Luzire.
Bobi Wine claimed that his former bodyguards were dismissed because they refused to spy on him on top of the allegations that they helped him to escape out.
