This investigative website can exclusively report that in the first week of September 2025, National Unity Platform (NUP) Principal Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu (Bobi Wine) received a message from his clan head Jjajja Kayira Gajule informing him that in the next week, he was going to lead a delegation to visit his home in Magere Wakiso district

After agreeing on the date, Bobi Wine together with his wife Barbra Kyagulanyi Itungo started preparation to welcome the delegation because he was very sure that the meeting was going to boast his political support in Buganda and silence his opponents especially Mathias Mpuuga Nsamba’s Democratic Front(DF) and National Resistance Movement(NRM) national vice president in charge of Buganda and the State Minister in charge of Microfinance Haruna Kasolo who have been publicly accusing him of being in bad books with Buganda Kingdom leadership.

“We decided to keep the meeting a secret. That is why even though the visit was on 15th September, we agreed to leak the photos and videos on Sunday 28th September knowing that Museveni was starting his campaigns in Buganda on 30th. We shocked Kiryowa Kiwanuka’s ‘Buganda for Museveni’ team,” a highly placed source in Bobi Wine’s camp revealed.

Highly placed sources close to Ronald Muwenda Mutebi the Kabaka of Buganda told this website that the selection of people who met Bobi Wine clearly shows that the King had a hand in the visit and wanted to send a clear message to Museveni and his people who undermine his Kingdom leadership.

A source revealed that when maverick lawyer Male Mabirizi sued the Kabaka seeking a declaration that he is not the owner of Buganda Kingdom land but just custodian who is not supposed to subject his subjects to paying rent and other monies to Buganda Land Board to recognise their tenancy on the Kingdom land, among the people Kabaka assigned confidently to talk to Mabirizi was Owekitiibwa Dan Mulika the former Buganda Kingdom premier who led a delegation that meet Bobi Wine last month.

“Because Mabirizi was following Kabaka Mutebi way of doing things, he accepted to meet Owekitiibwa David Kiwalabye Male (former minister in Kabaka Mutebi’s government) over the matter and they discussed it knowing that he will not take a decision without consulting the Kabaka. But when he received a phone call from Mulika who was asking him for a meeting with him, he declined because he was very aware that Muliika is among Mutebi’s confidants yet he didn’t want to be compromised,” a source said.

A source added that when clan heads started revolting against Kabaka’s orders including meeting Museveni without the consent of the Kabaka or his premier Charles Peter Mayiga, Kabaka summoned Mulika at his Banda Palace and directed him to inform Baganda that Buganda distances itself from the clan heads State House visit.

This website has established that Kabaka also assigned Mulika to talk to a section of members of the Royal family who were revolting against him in public accusing him of grabbing their land hiding behind Buganda Land Board and because of this special assignment, Kabaka made sure that Mulika has a car that fits his position so that he is not embarrassed when assigned a serious mission. It is alleged that he wanted him to be seen as a real man close to the King.

Sources divulged that Owekitiibwa Joseph Mulwanyamuli Ssemogerere, also a former Buganda premier and Owekitiibwa Florence Balunywa a former Kingdom minister sources are also Kabaka Mutebi’s close confidants since the death of Owekitiibwa Nelson Kawalya the former Buganda Kingdom Speaker, and he always summon them for a chat on critical Buganda Kingdom issues.

Both Ssemogerere and Balunywa where on Mulika’s delegation together with Gajule the head of Buffalo (Embogo) clan where Bobi Wine is a ‘Muzzukkulu’ (Grandchild).

Sources said that Gajule is among the confidants to Kabaka and was dismissed from being the Speaker of the Buganda Kingdom Clan Heads council on political grounds because Kabaka was receiving complaints that Gajule was using his position to mobilize support for Bobi Wine

However, on the delegation, there was also Owekitiibwa Ssewava Sserubiri a brother to Owekitiibwa Joyce Nabbosa Ssebugwawo who is a confidant to President Museveni and sources said that it was done calculatively to avoid speculations because other members on the delegation are known to be against Museveni’s leadership

“ The message was delivered by Mulika and others including Owekitiibwa Isreal Mayengo were just escorting the message to be delivered in very high respect,” a source said

Days after the Magere meeting, Kabaka sent another special message to clan heads which was delivered by Owekitiibwa Charles Peter Mayiga the Buganda Kingdom Premier. Sources said that Mayiga told clan heads that Kabaka has directed them to mobilize their grandchildren to actively participate in the coming general election and make sure that they vote for people who respect the Kingdom leadership.

Immediately after the meeting with clan heads at Bulange the headquarters of Buganda Kingdom, Mayiga drove to Mengo Palace to have a private meeting with Kabaka Mutebi which almost took three hours.

The development comes at a time when Kabaka silently accused Museveni of undermining his Kingdom leadership by meeting clan heads and buying for them Shs9bn land opposite Bulange. Museveni also launched the building of Shs53bn Lwattamu House which is going to be a commercial building for clan heads and also house their offices without the consent of him or Mayiga.

Kabaka’s people accuse Museveni of doing nothing when his blue eyed junior lands minister Dr Sam Mayanja and Phiona Birungi the Presidential Assistant of Special Duties attack him publicly and undermining him.

However, Museveni is struggling to win Buganda after his party was badly defeated in the 2021 general elections. NRM leaders accused Buganda Kingdom officials of mobilizing against Museveni through Kingdom structures, an allegation that Mayiga denied.

However, one of the ministers in Kabaka’s government denied claims that Kabaka Mutebi had a hand in Mulika’s Magere visit insisting that the initiative was personal and Bobi Wine was behind it to score political points in the coming general elections in Buganda.

It should be noted that even though Buganda supported Museveni’s armed struggle in the 1980’s, since 1996 elections, a section of Buganda Kingdom officials have been publicly de-campaigning him.
