When he was still the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP), Justice Mike Chibita, a judge of the Supreme Court assured the world that the prosecutors and the entire government of Uganda was ready in its capacity to arrest and charge whoever participated in the brutal murder of soft-spoken celebrated criminal prosecutor Joan Namazzi Kagezi.

Immediately after his comments, the then Inspector General of Police (IGP) Gen Edward Kale Kayihura declared that Kagezi was killed by Jamil Mukulu Kyagulanyi’s men who were operating under their terrorist organisation the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) and a number of suspects were arrested.

However, former Director General of the Internal Security Organisation (ISO) Col Frank Bagyenda Kaka disagreed with Kayihura and alleged that Kagezi’s execution was an inside mission.

He alleged that some police bosses received billions of money to eliminate Kagezi because of her defiance to continue prosecuting suspects who participated in the Kampala twin bombing suspect.

As both Kayihura and Kaka retire in their country homes, this investigate website can exclusively confirm that Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba the Chief of the Défense Forces (CDF) has authorised the arrest and detention of the former commandant of police’s Flying Squard SSP Nixon Agasirwe.

According to sources, Agasirwe was arrested in a Joint Security Operation led by the army and he is currently detained at Special Investigation Unit (SIU) Kireka as the investigations continue.

Agasirwe’s arrest resulted from the testimony of a one Daniel Kiwanuka Kisekka a star witness in Kagezi murder trial who told the judges of the International Crimes War Division of the High Court that the big person behind Kagezi’s murder was called Nixon adding that he met their coordinator at Kalerwe Market along Northern Bypass driving a car with government number plates.

Kagezi was a leading prosecutor in the twin bomb trial and was assisted by Lino Anguzo.

Sources claim that at the time of her elimination, she was urgently looking for President Museveni because her life was in danger after she allegedly received death threats from security operatives over the way she was handling the matter.

Kagezi according to sources wanted to report to the President the big people who were threatening her and had already reached out to her to accept the billions of cash they have received from tycoons who were fighting to save the suspects in the said trial.

Kagezi was murdered in Kiwatule in 2015 when she was driving with her children.

Kisekka who pleaded guilty to the charges was sentenced to 35 years imprisonment after taking a plea bargaining and accepting to testify as a state witness.

He said that he was paid Shs500,000 as part of the agreed money and promised to be paid $200,000 once the murder plan was executed.

Other suspects on trial are; Nasur Abdallah and John Massajage who were arrested after spending years on the run including seeking the intervention of witchcraft to survive the arrest claiming they were being haunted by Kagezi’s ghost.

In 2022, the Military Court Martial discharged Agasirwe together with other police bosses who were charged with offences related to treason and illegally abducting refugees in Uganda and extraditing them back to their countries of origin.

Upon his release, Agasirwe legalised his marriage with his longtime wife Charity Agasirwe and praised President Museveni for saving his life.

However, sources close to Agasirwe claim that the man who Gen Kayihura promoted in police ranks obtained his freedom after selling his properties.

Sources added that the Nixon’s family is very desperate right now because they don’t have properties to sell or money in cash to use to hire serious lawyers or talk to connected people in government.

Sources added that it is going to be very difficult for Gen Kayihura to intervene in the fight to save Agasirwe as he did the previous time when he convinced Gen Muhoozi and Museveni to release them including Abdallah Kitatta the 2010 bodaboda coordinator who was charged in the Court Martial with offences of being in illegal possession of a military store.

Justice Jane Frances Abodo the Director of Public Prosecutor have assigned top prosecutors Agunzo and Thomas Jatiko who both were friends to Kagezi.

Police has not yet issued a public statement over Agasirwe’s arrest.
