Ono Bwino can exclusively report that Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu (Bobi Wine) has been asked to intervene and save the situation at home as his deputy in charge of Northern Uganda and also the Acting National Unity Platform (NUP) president Dr Lina Zedriga Waru is entwined in a sharp fight with the party’s foot soldiers.

The development resulted from last week’s orders issued by Zedriga where she directed all foot soldiers to stop coming and spending time at the headquarters at Makerere Kavule in Kawempe Division Kampala city apart from those with special assignments like providing security.

“I need space to do my work and execute the assignments for my president. Time for politics is over, everyone should go back to work for a living, we don’t have money here to give you,” a source quoted Zedriga.

Ono Bwino cannot independently confirm that the decision was made after Zedriga consulted other leaders as sources claim but what we can authoritatively confirm, is that she has been complaining about the indiscipline which foot soldiers have been exhibiting at the party headquarters.

After successfully sneaking out of the country claiming that his life was in danger, Bobi Wine assigned Zedriga as Acting president in March 2026 and promised that he will return to the country after completing his official duties abroad which involve mobilizing support against President Museveni’s leadership.

Zedriga has been summoning several party leaders to her office including the newly elected Members of Parliament, councilors and leaders at all levels but sources claim that most of them have been reporting to her how some foot soldiers have been mishandleding them outside and asking them for money and other favours without respect.

Ono Bwino has also learnt that Fred Nyanzi Ssetamu, the party’s head of diaspora and elder brother to Bobi Wine also petitioned Zedriga to save him from foot soldiers who are scaring him from going to his office at the party headquarters after accusing of betrayal.

The misunderstandings between Nyanzi and the foot soldiers deepened after the state confirmed that he is among the few witnesses they have to testify against NUP leaders and foot soldiers currently facing criminal charges of unlawful drilling.

The foot soldiers led by Bobi Wine henchman Andrew Natumanya (Tabz) have been pressing Nyanzi to be clear on the deal he sealed with the State to accept to testify against his comrades who are rotting in prison because of criminal charges related to their political struggle against President Museveni government

Nyanzi denied all the allegations placed on him by the State insisting that he is being used as a state witness to divide his party and create mistrust against him adding that he never recorded any statement with security which can be used as state exhibit.

Sources said that Zedriga further cited the recent incident when foot soldiers insulted a one Wasswa Bukenya who was among them but crossed to National Resistance Movement (NRM) and he is currently the Personal Assistant to Madinah Nsereko the newly elected Kawempe South Member of Parliament.

Insulting Bukenya who had returned NUP properties including the party card and uniforms scared Zedriga who now says that security can use such scenarios to declare the party headquarters a crime scene which can result into imprisoning other party leaders and supporters.

However, some furious foot soldiers who spoke to Ono Bwino said that NUP leaders are using them as tools to be used and after winning they are dumped by branding them as indisciplined and beggars.

These foot soldiers also allege that some of their leaders even participate in planning for their imprisonment so that they can enjoy their political offices in their absentia.

They claim that it is the reason why they have petitioned Bobi Wine to intervene because they cannot accept to be denied access to their party headquarters where they call home and a place where they associate with each other to brainstorm on the way forward for their political struggle against Museveni government.
