Controversial lawyer Male Mabirizi has accused his longtime friend and president of the Uganda Law Society (ULS) Isaac Ssemakadde and the entire New Radical Bar of betraying him to save Buganda Road Chief Magistrate Ritah Kidasa Wanyama and so that his tormentors continue persecuting him on what he branded as fabricated criminal charges which have kept him for months in Luzira Prison.

Mabirizi’s allegations resulted from a formal communication that Uganda Law Society made to Court confirming their withdrawal from representing him citing professional conduct obligations.

“Continuing to act as Counsel has become untenable due to circumstances that compromise counsel’s ability to represent the accused to the standard required by the Advocates (Professional Conduct) Regulations, and the Constitution of the Republic of Uganda 1995,” Ssemakadde’s letter read in part.

Mabirizi received his copy from his lawyers withdrawing their legal services in protest and warned Ssemakadde and the entire New Radical Bar that he will also revenge on them noting that the decision they took to abandon him in prison is aa act of betrayal and to him it tantamounts to treason in the struggle him and Ssemakadde decided to initiate for the good of rule of law.

“Tell Ssemakadde that what he did to me is treason. It’s unfortunate that to him, associating with me and my brand to save me from prison has now become an embarrassment to him but he should remember that it is my poor dress code, my bad brand that helped him to win that position and also make sure that he retains the seat as ULS president when he was being threatened after his first term in office expired. Tell him to be on notice that I will revenge,” Mabirizi vowed.

He added that because of fighting for Ssemakadde to become a Uganda Law Society president, he lost friendship with Attorney General Kiryowa Kiwanuka, lawyers David Mpanga, Aron Kizza, Kato Tumusiime but he was not bothered because he had trust in Ssemakadde that he was the foundation of change in the way things are done in the judiciary.

He claimed that when he was paraded by Kidasa, he declined to take plea because of their personal issues including dragging her to Judicial Service Commission seeking her removal from the office of a judicial officer, but Ssemakadde through his vice president Anthony Asiimwe compromised him to take plea after assuring him that Kidasa was not going to revenge on him.

“I suspected that Ssemakadde was going to betray me because I know him as a close friend to Kidasa’s husband Don Wanyama. However, when I spoke to him on phone, he promised me that our relationship is different from that of Wanyama, but that’s how human beings behave,” Mabirizi added.

He divulged that the target of his tormentors is to isolate him from his friends, keep him in prison as a way of breaking his spirit and force him to apologise which he boasted will never happen.

However, Ono Bwino has seen minutes of a meeting which were also served to Mabirizi where resolutions were made asking Mabirizi to leave the lawyers to run his case by stopping him from filing numerous applications without their knowledge.

Mabirizi was also asked to stop attacking Kidasa’s personality because in doing so, he is placing them as lawyers representing him in bad light which he refused to accept.

Mabirizi insisted that his tormentors were using Kidasa to persecute him that is why he had to expose her before well thinking members of the public that she is not fit to be a judge.

Mabirizi was further remanded until 13th May, 2026 after the presiding magistrate told him that her response on his recusal application is not ready.

He wants her to recuse herself from his trial citing biasness.

Mabirizi also suffered a setback when Buganda Road magistrate Winnie Nankya also dismissed his Private Criminal prosecution case instituted against Kidasa and ruthless State prosecutor Richard Birivumbuka claiming that they violated his human rights when they arrested him inside the court room and slapped him with criminal charges related to broadcasting on social media without a license.

Mabirizi’s troubles resulted from complaints filed at police by Chief Justice Dr Flavian Zeija and Justice Musa Ssekaana of the Court of Appeal who are accusing him of using his social media platforms to defame them by calling them corrupt judicial officers who are not fit to hold public offices .
