Seasoned political journalist Peter Kibazo has revealed that a number of his friends in the corporate elite circles have been complaining about the leadership of the international schools where their children study from for declining to extend the opening of the 2026 academic year in January before the general elections.

He explained that this is because most of them including top government officials are scared that the coming 2026 election is likely to turn violent basing on the ongoing threats being issued both the security commanders and leadership of the opposition and the think that the only way to save their families is to fly them abroad for safety until the country goes through the entire election process.

“Two of them told me that their kids will miss the first weeks of their studies because they cannot risk them being here in this threatening environment. And this is a big reason especially given that as ordinary Ugandans, we lack the means to protect our families and the only option is taking them to our villages but most of them here is Uganda are almost towns,” Kibazo said.

Ono BVwino has established that two judges of the High Court stopped their children who are studying in United States of America and Canada from coming back for holidays until the elections are done.

Sources in the security confirmed to Ono Bwino that even the number of Ugandans travelling abroad for a long stay of more than two months have increased and a big number of them are government officials and members of the corporate community.

Ono Bwino understands that a number of people especially those from western Uganda used the Christmas holiday to travel to the village and they are planning to comeback to Kampala after elections including former senior operative Charles Rwomushana who is camping at his Rwenshama home village.

In the 2021 general elections, opposition strongman Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu (Bobi Wine) flew his children to United States before the elections and defended the decision saying he was briefed that his family was in danger.

However, he was badly attacked and accused for placing other people’s children in the line of fire disguised as a struggle against Museveni’s government while shielding his family. Sources close to him told this website that this time around, his family will remain in the country.

It should be noted that since 2001 elections, before announcing the results from the presidential elections, opposition strongmen and women are always placed under house arrest, their communication is cut off and some of them are not allowed to entertain visitors at their homes including relatives and friends.

John Kakande a retired Editor with government newspaper he New Vision said that the entire scare and panic is created by President Museveni and his son the Chief of Defence Forces Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba.

“I think those two people know something which us (as ordinary people) we don’t know or they are creating a situation to scare people from fully participating in the election and protect their votes fully,” Kakande said.

Intelligence sources told Ono Bwino online that Museveni and his family are taking this election as a do or die affair and it is the reason why all of them including their daughters are actively participating in campaigning for their father by joining him and their mother Janet Kataha Museveni on his campaign trail.

“Even though this campaign is not violent as that of 2021, we know very well that there are foreign invisible hands with interests of changing the regime in Uganda. We saw what happened in Tanzania, people were killed, properties destroyed all because of the influence of foreign forces. So we have to prepare,” a senior security officer told Ono Bwino online.

He added that by next week, security operations are going to be carried out in major cities around the country and suspected security threats will be arrested and detained until the conclusion of the elections.

Other sources divulged that the targeted individuals are National Unity Platform (NUP) coordinators who are supervising the execution of Bobi Wine’s protest vote agenda by mobilizing the masses to fully participate in the elections and make sure that they vote and after voting, if there are unclear results, demand for their victory.

Because of that demand of the victory, Gen Muhoozi and Justice Simon Mugenyi Byabakama directed that after voting, all people should go home and wait for the announcement of the results from their candidate’s agents, local and international observers and the media.

Bobi Wine protested the advice insisting and directing Ugandans to remain at the polling station to protect and demand for proper results noting that the laws of the country permit them to do so by standing 20 metres from the condoned off poling centre.
