Ono Bwino can exclusively report that Godfrey Onzima (Tower) one of the chief civilian bodyguards of the National Unity Platform (NUP) presidential candidate Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu (Bobi Wine) has sneaked out of the country and run into exile after surviving several arrests on the allegations of being involved in aggravated robbery and insulting security officers.

Tower was helped to run into exile through Kenya after surviving being arrested in one of the operations commanded by a one Mukiibi who raided a hotel where Bobi Wine and his campaigning team were sleeping at night.

The incident happened when Bobi Wine was campaigning in Northern Uganda and since then, Tower has been in hiding until this website established that through Bobi Wine’s contacts in Museveni’s government, he was helped to sneak out of the country

Highly placed security sources told this website that Mukiibi was ordered to raid the hotel where Bobi Wine was sleeping with his campaigning team after talks to recover their security and intelligence equipment flopped.

Sources claim that security through NUP chief campaigning coordinator pleaded with Bobi Wine to help them recover their security equipments which were lost in the scuffle between Bobi Wine’s foot soldiers and security operatives.

“The Covert intelligence team assigned to follow Bobi Wine’s presidential campaigns is in danger and they are going to face disciplinary action. That laptop which was stolen from them during that scuffle with Bobi Wine’s foot soldiers had modern technology installed on it which was helped jammers to work,” a source said.

He added that President Museveni heavily invested in that technology after being challenged by former Sudan president Omar Bashir’s technology which rendered his security equipment useless when Bashir Came to Uganda to attend the 2016 presidential swearing in ceremony at Kololo independence grounds.

Sources said that preliminary investigations indicate that a one Isabirye who was assigned to lead the covert team was compromised by NUP girls and allowed one of them to access the security vehicle where the said equipment was and exposed himself to foot soldiers with some of them even becoming his friends.

Sources said that because of that exposure, the foot soldier confirmed that the reason why they were disturbed with internet connection and phone communication at several campaign venues wase because of the jammers and the Which Isabirye’s team operated in one of the cars.

According to intelligence briefs seen by this reporter, Tower commanded the raid on the said double cabin pickup, picked the laptop and other machines which they claim were being used to intercept Bobi Wine’s connection during his presidential campaigns.

“ It was reported at first that laptop and other machines were taken to Bobi Wine but we later learnt that it they were disconnected and destroyed by Tower himself and after he thrown them in one of the water channels which connects to River Nile. They cannot be recovered now and our bosses are very bitter even though Isabirye and friends claim that they were also insulted to lose the gadgets,” a senior security boss said.

Sources inside Bobi Wine’s campaign team disclosed that the principal was very bitter with Tower and quizzed him on why he threw the laptop and other security gadgets in water and after disappeared. This is the reason why after the raid in Northern Uganda, he said that his team is not too smart when it comes to discipline promising investigations into the allegations placed on his men and women.

Kituuma Rusoke the police spokesperson said that Tower and his comrades provoked them which resulted into bitter exchanges with Bobi Wine’s team even though they have been fighting for a peaceful campaign.

He assured public that whoever participated in destroying security’s equipment will be arrested.

Bobi Wine revealed that last week, over 100 of his supporters were arrested during his presidential campaigns in Mbarara including Olivier Lutaaya who spent almost three years in the court martial.

Sources said that this time Lutaaya is going to face a difficult time to survive jail because the two members of Museveni family who were involved in convincing the old man to pardoned her were angered by her decision to remain with Bobi Wine even though she promised them that once she is pardoned, she was going to abandoned politics and do her personal businesses.

However, in a recorded video, Tower denied the allegations of stealing a security equipment and insulting security personals insisting that the entire plan is about arresting him so that he is charges with his comrades Achilleo Kivumbi, Gadafi Mugumya, Smart Wakabi, Edward Ssebuufu, Alex Waiswa Mufumbiro and a number of others who were arrested, charged and remanded to prison.

He assured the country that the ongoing arrest threats are not going to stop him from advocating for regime change in Uganda adding that Museveni’s men and women are bitter with him because he declined to take their offers including money to abandon the political struggle.

Thirty-eight National Unity Platform (NUP) supporters who were arrested on Friday while traveling to Bwizibwera have been remanded in custody until November 19.

The group faces charges of obstructing the Deputy Police Commander, Kenneth Kabwigo, while he was on duty.

The remaining supporters have been charged with various traffic offenses.
