A joint security and intelligence command formed to supervise and monitor the ongoing political campaigns for the 2026 general elections across the whole country has placed Mityana district as one of the areas to be handled with seriousness because of the still and unruly competition among the politicians there.
Ono Bwino can exclusively report that the decision to add Mityana on the deadly election hotspots resulted from the tense battle there between the camp of incumbent Mityana district Woman Member of Parliament Joyce Bagala Ntwatwa who formed a political coalition with Mityana South legislator Richard Kizito Lumu against maverick Mityana Municipality legislator Francis Butebi Zaake
According to highly placed sources, because of the boiling political tension, Bagala’s camp recently clandestinely started recruiting body buildlt youths from different parts of Mityana and Kampala into their camp with the aim of providing them with security to beef up their grassroot political mobilization.
“ Because of their special assignments, they dress in overalls that resemble the ones of National Unity Platform (NUP) with the only difference being that those of NUP are red but Bagala’s have different colours like green, white, black and red. They also wear boots to fit the soldier style of NUP’s foot soldier,” a senior security officer said.

He added that Bagala’s foot soldiers act in the same manner as NUP’s foot soldiers and they always make sure that their principals are encircled while being sensitive to people who come close to them especially on big gatherings.
Bagala faced an uphill task to defeat NUP’s flag bearer Prossy Mukisa alias Nabbosa after Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu (Bobi Wine) declared her as an anti-regime change politician who shields the corrupt. Bobi Wine pleaded with voters in greater Mityana to only vote for those with an umbrella which is his party’s symbol.
Bobi Wine also asked the voters not to kick Lumu out of parliament through the ballot. He accuses him of being used by Museveni to fight the opposition to the extent that he brought a bill aimed at stopping the leader of the biggest political opposition party from choosing the Leader of Opposition in Parliament (LOP). Lumu’s bill mooted for the LOP to be voted by all opposition legislators which collapsed on the floor of parliament
Museveni’s National Resistance Movement (NRM) is also struggling to reclaim Mityana district through the command of Judith Nabakooba the lands senior minister who is contesting for the position of Mityana district Woman Member of Parliament
